i’m currently obsessed with swimming right now and think it is the best frickin’ exercise on planet earth.

why?

a) it’s burns the most cals I think you can burn in a half hour (around 300…)

b) it’s not emotionally painful or physically for that matter. legit. it’s not like running, or weights or aerobics where like four seconds in you’re looking at the time hoping enough time has passed that you can call it a day.

c) you can do other things while swimming. it’s so zen that as you’re stroking the water, you can have conversations in your head, make to do lists in your mind or pretend that you are in a hot and steamy affair with the president of the united states of america or the bad guy from ghost – which ever role that dude plays that you prefer. just kidding. fitz is the worst and carl is worser.

best of all – aka d) you get fit, fast! i’ve been doing it for a little over a month and i’ve had more than a few compliments on my newly formed back muscles.

i got the idea to swim from our franchise partner, rachel (of THE TEN SPOT leaside location). we were having lunch a couple months back (ok, more wine then lunch) and she told me she had taken up swimming and was killing it. i also had another friend who swam daily and so i asked if he could give me a lesson. he did and he also hooked me up with all my gear. yes, i don goggles, a bathing cap and earn plugs (those i purchased, he didn’t give me his old ones). anyway, since that lesson i’ve been hooked. i swim every am at 6:00 and have the pool to myself.

here’s to finding a workout that i’ll work.
