The accounting manager will oversee all accounting functions to ensure day-to-day financial activities are completed with accuracy and efficiency.

purpose

THE TEN SPOT® is looking for an accounting manager to join their team. the accounting will oversee all accounting functions to ensure day-to-day financial activities are completed with accuracy and efficiency. 

duties for this role include

  • manage the accounting function. you have a level of comfort jumping in and working in an existing structure. you are a strong individual contributor, fully capable of managing the complete accounting function from bookkeeping to producing financial statements, month-end and year-end reports.  collaborating with our cfo, you’ll play a part in setting and managing budgets. THE TEN SPOT® encompasses multiple entities, so combining financial statements will be an important part of your role.  our franchise partners each work with their own accounting professionals for their financial reporting.  we’ll look to you to analyze their reporting, ensuring consistency and compliance with our reporting requirements.
  • elevate and maintain data analytics for the brand. you will be participating in and developing new reports for the business and brand as a whole, including location specific metrics, kpi reporting and data analytics for management reports.  data compilation and analysis is a key component of this role and advanced knowledge of excel is mandatory. 
  • implement processes to maximize efficiency and impact. we’re a lean but progressive organization, so we place a lot of focus on efficiency.  with that in mind, you will formulate, coordinate, and implement a plan to ensure all of our accounting reporting system requirements are met.  while maintaining a holistic view of the organization, you will build and support processes and systems to efficiently collect, organize and manage all accounting information to maintain and strengthen internal controls.  the executives will look to your expertise to improve processes and policies in order to produce meaningful financial analysis and take on special projects in an effort to help THE TEN SPOT® reach their goals.
  • financial reporting & audit preparation.  you are comfortable spearheading the preparation and processing of all financial documents and reports relating to the administration and operation of THE TEN SPOT®.  you have experience producing financial reports including: income and expense statements, balance sheets, cash flows, trial balance, etc and are comfortable preparing files and reports for review by the auditor.  our cfo/coo will look to you, not only to present monthly business achievements and benchmarks but will also be eager to hear your strategic business planning recommendations.  you will liaise with external auditors, vendors and various stakeholders throughout the performance of your role, and are confident in your ability to communicate and follow-up appropriately to ensure deadlines are met. 
  • accounts payable & receivable.  you strive to do your best in all that you take on.  your meticulous nature makes you a master at the detailed tasks such as reviewing bank balances, completing monthly bank reconciliations, and generating all journal entries.  you have a can-do attitude, and appreciate that there is no task that’s too big or too small.  this means you take comfort and satisfaction in owning activities such as accounts payable and accounts receivable.  our ap/ar is mostly automated using hubdoc, quickbooks online and other supporting applications.  you’ll need to know how to use them and be able to develop them to their fullest extent.

additional duties and responsibilities:

  • human resources support such as reviewing staff agreements, preparing payroll, and overseeing the administration of our benefits and insurance plans. 
  • legal support such as preparing templated vendor contracts and franchise agreements, maintaining a database of contract renewals and monitoring trademark renewals. 
  • administrative support such as attending executive meetings to document decisions and take minutes. 

requirements: 

  • advanced proficiency with microsoft excel is required.
  • previous experience working in a franchise organization is an asset.
  • bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.  cpa designation preferred, but not required. 
  • 3+ years experience in a similar accounting role. 
  • strong knowledge of aspe and us gaap. 
  • exceptional written and oral communication skills, and polished interpersonal skills.
